转化词
一个词不改变拼写，直接从一种词性转成另一种词性。
water / hand / empty / dry / name… 既可以是名词/形容词，也可以是动词
要点
- 名词 → 动词：water（水 → 浇水），hand（手 → 递给），fish（鱼 → 钓鱼），email（邮件 → 发邮件）。
- 形容词 → 动词：empty（空的 → 倒空），dry（干的 → 弄干），clean（干净的 → 打扫）。
- 少数词转化时重音变化：record 名词读 /'rekɔ:d/，动词读 /ri'kɔ:d/；present 名词 /'preznt/，动词 /pri'zent/。
- 判断词性看位置：Give me a hand 里的 hand 是名词；Hand me the book 里的 hand 是动词。
- 动词也能反过来当名词用，而且常跟在 have、take 这类词后面：Let's take a walk. —— 中文这里是"走一走"，英文把那个动词直接挪成了名词。
- 形容词变动词有两条路：一条真的什么也不加（empty、dry、clean，就是老要点第二条那一组），另一条要加 -en 尾巴（short → shorten, wide → widen, strong → strengthen）—— 长短深浅强弱这一类多走 -en。
- 有两个词只是碰巧同形，不算同一个词转性：can（能）与 can（罐子）、lie（躺）与 lie（说谎）—— 意思不相干，连过去式都走两套。

易错提示
- open 既可以是形容词也可以是动词：The door is open. / Open the door.
- 判断转化词的词性，看它在句子里的位置和前面有没有冠词、助动词。
- 末尾那串 -en 不一定是造词用的尾巴：open、often、seven 只是碰巧以它收尾。判是不是 -en 加出来的，看去掉 -en 之后剩下的是不是一个还在用的词：shorten 去掉剩 short，站得住；open 去掉剩下的那一截没人单用。
