another / other / the other / others 辨析
「另一个、其他的」这组词的区别，几乎每年中考都考。
another + 单数；the other（两者中的另一个）；others = other + 复数
要点
- another 指「另一个（三者及以上，泛指）」，后接单数名词：Would you like another apple?
- the other 指「两者中的另一个」：One of my hands hurts, the other is fine. 固定搭配 one … the other …
- other + 复数名词，泛指「其他的」：other students；others 独立使用 = other + 复数：Some like tea; others like coffee.
- the others 指「其余全部的」：Two students are here; the others are late.
- another 后面偶尔也能接数词 + 复数：another three days = three more days（再三天）。
- the other 既能接单数也能接复数：the other hand（两者中另一只）／ the other students（其余那些学生）。
- the others 后面不能再补名词 —— 名词已经含在里头了：Two are here, the others are late.
- 判断顺序两条：先问范围是两个还是一堆，再问是泛指还是特指（有没有 the）。

易错提示
- 口诀：another 泛指另一个（单数），the other 两者剩一个，others 泛指另一些，the others 剩下的全部。
- another + 数词 + 复数是「再、还」：I need another two days. = I need two more days.
- others 与 the others 只差一个 the：前者泛指「另一些」（不限定是谁），后者特指「剩下的那些」。
- another 前面不能加 the / my 这类限定词 —— 它是 an + other 合起来的，本身就带「一个」。
