定冠词 the
特指双方都知道、或上文已经提过的人事物。
the + 名词（单数、复数、不可数都行）
要点
- 双方都知道指的是哪一个时，用 the。
- 上文已经提过，再次提到时用 the。
- 世界上独一无二的事物前用 the：the sun、the moon。
- 乐器前加 the（play the piano），球类和三餐前不加（play basketball、have lunch）。
- 被范围锁住的名词前要 the：序数与最高级（the second floor、the best film of the year）、后置定语点明了是哪一个（the girl in red、the man at the door）。
- 由普通名词拼成的专名要带 the：the Great Wall、the United States、the Yellow Sea；单个的人名、城市名不带（Beijing、Mount Tai）。
- the 还能表"整类"，不是特指哪一只：The whale is a mammal = Whales are mammals（鲸是哺乳动物）。

易错提示
- play the piano 有 the，play basketball 没有 the —— 记住这一对就行。
- 泛指的复数前面不加 the：Books are useful.（不说 The books are useful.）
- by + 交通工具不带冠词，介词一换成 in / on 就得带：by bus ／ on the bus、in a taxi —— 冠词的有无跟着介词走，不跟着 bus 走。
- 说太空与人类这两个泛指时不加 the：in space、Man is mortal（人终有一死）；一旦指具体的空间或具体的人就要加：the space under the stairs ／ the man at the door。
